Camille Rose Naturals: Curlaide Moisture Butter vs. Almond Jai Twisting Butter

almond jai vs. curlaide moisture

I love me some Camille Rose Naturals products! They were the first brand that I found worked for my natural hair and I’ve been a loyal customer since! My favorite holy grail product of theirs is the Almond Jai Twisting Butter. It leaves my hair extremely defined, shiny and the moisture lasts for days! Recently, Camille Rose Naturals had a sale on their website and I thought this would be the perfect time to try some of their other products.

I’ve already tried their Curl Love Moisture Milk, Algae Renew Deep Conditioner and Curl Maker (I’ll do reviews on those items as well). So I was left with trying their Coconut line or purchasing another butter. . . I went with the Curlaide Moisture Butter! There’s been a lot of back and forth with this product in particular. People want to know how it compares (if any) to their popular Almond Jai Twisting Butter. I’ve used the Curlaide Moisture Butter for quite some time now, so I can give you my personal honest review!

The Curlaide Moisture Butter is very similar to Almond Jai in consistency, smell and ways to apply it. Both butters can be applied to wet or dry hair however, I noticed on the container that Curlaide Moisture Butter is better suitable for dry hair. To give the product a fair shot, I decided to use it every morning on my “dry” twist out to refresh and moisturize my hair. I have to say that there’s a slight difference in results on when I apply my Almond Jai to dry hair. The Curlaide Butter felt like it sat on top of my strands rather than being easily absorbed and it wasn’t nearly as shiny.

I also used the Curlaide Moisture Butter on wet hair to set my twist out and here’s where the product took a turn. When it was time for me to take down my hair, I noticed that it felt hard and was more difficult to separate/fluff. It was almost like I applied gel and my strands didn’t want to separate from one another. . . which meant I had some frizz. I don’t like to “hear” my hair when I’m separating and that’s exactly what happened!

So, would I purchase this product again? Probably not. I do think this would be great for someone with type 3 hair and up! My type 4 hair responds better to the Almond Jai however, I think other hair types that aren’t necessarily a fan of the thickness with Almond Jai might love the Curlaide Moisture Butter! Have you tried either products? Which has been your favorite go to? Let me know in the comments and don’t forget to subscribe!
