Behind The Scenes With YouTuber Ianthia Smith
Happy Friday, my lovely ASSASSINS! It’s time for another Feature Friday post and this one is quite exciting! I know the title says YouTuber however, Ianthia Smith is a woman of many hats! You’ll see below as you read her story and gather information along the way! I couldn’t wait to read her responses because I knew she would teach me so much about YouTube! LOL. OK enough of my blabbing. . . let’s get onto the feature! Enjoy!
Tell us about yourself and why you decided to start your YouTube channel Ianthia Smith!
Hey! I’m a travel and lifestyle blogger, TV and event host and writer living in The Bahamas! I started my YouTube channel because I wanted to diversify my brand and give my followers a visual representation of most of the blogs they read. I know that visual content is crucial to a blogger these days so I had to join the party.
Did you have any other channels before this one? If not, what made you finally start?
I’ve had this channel for a few years. I usually used it to post my work when I was a news reporter and TV anchor, but I’ve since deleted those videos and revamped the page to suit my look and brand as it is today.
What message are you trying to get across with your videos?
The message I want to get across is that you can make YouTube about you! I was struggling with finding content for my channel thinking that I had to fit in a makeup, hair or fitness tutorial niche. But I finally figured out that my channel should represent me. That’s why I created “Personal Space” which is my web show that features quick, fun and witty interviews with some of my favorite girl bosses.
Best thing about YouTube so far is?
Being able to actually send people to a channel I’m now proud of! LOL! I actually have content on there I don’t mind showing.
Do you plan to make YouTube a full time career if it isn’t already?
Full time, I’m not so sure, but I do plan on keeping consistent with it and making it a bigger part of my brand and content generation.
What is your ultimate life goal to achieve?
Oh boy! What a loaded question. It’s cliché, but true, I just want to be happy! I want to continue travelling the world, writing about those experiences, grow as a content creator and be the next Oprah!
I see you live in The Bahamas! What’s it like living there?
It’s absolutely amazing! The Bahamas is a chain of islands all separated by water. I live on New Providence, the capital, which is the perfect mix of island living and city fun. It’s small enough where everyone knows your business, but big enough that if you wanted to disappear you could. The beaches, the food, the almost all-year round summer climate, the friendly people, I can’t imagine living anywhere else.
For anyone who visits, which places are a must see in the Bahamas?
I love this question! I’m a travelista so I’m always down to hop on a plane and see new places. If you’re coming to The Bahamas, come by plane and stay for at least two weeks. Go island hopping and see several of our beautiful islands like Exuma, Abaco and Bimini which are my favorites and all unique in their own ways. To me, each island has its own shade of beautiful blue waters that almost melt into the sky, it’s mesmerizing.
What else do you do when you aren’t filming videos?
I write for my blog MiniSkirts and Microphones, produce web shows, scroll Instagram ( I think I’m addicted lol), go to the beach, create content for my platforms, manage social media for a few clients and eat sushi!
Anything else that you would like for us to know?
I’m a Sagittarius, I love elephants, I hate bananas, but love banana flavored foods, hate avocado but love guacamole, hate tomatoes but love pico de gallo (weird, I know), I graduated valedictorian in high school!
