Wash Time
For me personally, I found that using a gentle shampoo worked better on my hair than co-washing. Therefore, I stopped co-washing altogether and just shampoo my hair once a week. Every now and again I will do an apple cider vinegar rinse but lately, I haven’t felt the need to.
Side note: I LOVE my Felicia Leatherwood Detangler Brush as it works wonders while detangling my hair! Also, the shears are for those horrid single strand knots that I find every now and again.
Deep Conditioning
After I finish shampooing, I part my hair down the middle to create two sections. I use one ouchless hair tie to hold one side of my hair while I work on the other. Since I have thick hair and I’m tender headed, (ugh) I create 5 smaller sections on the one side. Don’t forget that you can create however many sections you need! Once my hair is sectioned out, I apply a good amount of Shea Moisture 10-in-1 Renewal System Hair Masque and detangle. Once I’m finished detangling my entire head, I’m left with a total of 10 sections. I then sit under my hair steamer for 30-40 minutes while I watch TV or eat! Deep conditioning is ESSENTIAL for my hair so I make sure to do it once a week.

Styling
After I finish sitting under the steamer, I rinse the conditioner out with cool water. I then take my microfiber towel and wrap my hair to soak up any excess water. While it’s wrapped, I mix 1/4 cup of aloe vera juice and a splash of water in my spray bottle. Once my hair is damp, I spray the aloe vera mix all throughout for added moisture. As before, I part my hair down the middle and use one ouchless tie to hold the side of my hair. Since the 5 sections were previously created, it’s easier to part in all those same areas! Taking one small section, I apply As I Am Leave-in Conditioner and Mountain Rose Herbs Castor Oil. (IN THAT ORDER! – Momma Dee voice) I find that using L-Leave in C-Cream O-Oil works better for my hair than LOC, but do what your hair likes!
I’ve also used Jamaican Mango & Lime Black Castor Oil collection and it works just as well!
After the products are applied, I braid my hair (not down to my scalp) and if one section runs out, I add it to another section and begin to two-strand twist. When I get down to the very bottom, I finger coil it! You will notice that I didn’t mention finger detangling or using any other hair brushes/combs. I personally noticed, that my hair retains length better when I detangle once and just style it AKA leave it alone! When I’m finished, I have a total of 10 braids sticking out and resemble Felicia (LOL). I keep my braids in for at least one full day to ensure that it’s completely dry. This is why I love my satin-lined beanie because I can still go out and not look a total sight!

Take Down
Before I take my hair out, I apply Camille Rose Curl Love Moisture Milk and coconut oil to each individual braid. Then I take my braids out, split the hair where it naturally wants to separate and fluff out my roots using my pick. Voila, you have a perfect braid out! I also reapply these two products everyday before I refluff my hair in the morning!

I already went shopping for my products, but you make me want to go again. I can’t wait to try this technique. The struggle is real when it comes to figuring out what to do with my hair. I wish my twist outs looked as awesome as yours do! I’m going to try the LCO method instead. Hopefully, I will have better luck. Thanks for sharing!
I wrote this post specifically for you and then completely forgot to tag you! I’m so glad you read it! Lol. But yes… it is definitely a struggle when trying to find what products works for our hair! It took me two years and lots of patience lol. In due time you’ll find exactly what your hair likes and once you do… stick with it! Not that you’ll want to try anything else anyways! Lol.
