E’TAE Natural Hair Products: My First Impression & Review
I haven’t straightened my hair in over 4 years but I knew when the time came, that I was going to use E’TAE natural hair products. Before we get started with my first impressions and review, I think it’s best to give you some background on my hair!
Background Deets
I’ve never had a perm in my entire life (thanks Mom); always wanted one but she wouldn’t let me. Once I got old enough to perm my hair, I was already used to the process of not having one… so I didn’t bother. One day, I decided to go completely natural. No heat, no more bleaching, no chemicals and all natural products. My hair was ridiculously damaged… it was bleached, dyed and suffered from heat damage. I grew it out and gradually clipped the ends as it continued to grow.
Now my hair is extremely healthy and I trim it twice a year which is every 5 – 6 months (sometimes it’s 5 when my hair grows at a faster rate). Additionally, I have 3C and 4A hair so it’s looser curls in the front and pencil-like curls in the back. It prefers all natural products that are thick in consistency and little to no manipulation in between styles. I wear braid-outs and twist-outs which last me a good week. Lastly, I deep condition my hair every week (sometimes I’ll do an instant conditioner if I’m rushing) and shampoo weekly with a non sulfate conditioner. Now that you’ve got the background on my hair, you can better understand if these products will work for you!
Carmel Reconstructing Treatment
So the Carmel Reconstructing Treatment is the first product I used which I initially thought was weird… considering it’s a deep treatment. Typically, you shampoo first and then deep condition. This product is different where you deep condition first and then shampoo twice. After the reading the ingredients I understood why! The first ingredient is honey, then it’s bananas, olive oil, cornstarch, molasses, apple cider vinegar, water and tea tree oil. How awesome are those ingredients? I know what each and every one is and don’t have to Google it to find out! Lol! The product is SO NATURAL that it has an expiration date. So I urge you to check yours prior to buying to ensure that you’ll have enough time to use it entirely.
The directions say to dampen your hair, then apply the product allover. It doesn’t mention detangling, so I didn’t. I sat with the carmel reconstructing treatment on my hair for about an hour with a plastic cap on. However, the directions say all you need is 30 minutes but can leave on longer for a deeper treatment. You also do not need any heat for this product; so I was able to do other things around the house during this time. The product is thick, has a grainy texture and smells straight up like honey lol. I have to admit that I was a little leery of how this treatment would wash out. Surprisingly, it washed out easily and required no additional shampoos than my usual two!
Final Impression
It left my hair super soft and I loved that the ingredient list is all natural! Additionally, the fact that I can put this on and not need to sit under the steamer is wonderful. I definitely plan to use the carmel reconstructor treatment every other week. I think it’s a great way to keep my hair conditioned and treated along with my staple deep conditioner that requires steam/heat!

Buttershine Hair Crème
I used the buttershine creme prior to blow drying and straightening my hair. The directions say you only need a pea sized amount but me being the natural I am used wayyyy more than that! In hindsight, all I needed was probably a quarter sized amount (remember, my hair loves/soaks up butters). It says this can be used as a heat protectant but I didn’t chance it. I picked up a heat protectant and sprayed that on my hair prior to applying the butter.
The ingredients in this product are all natural too! The first ingredient is shea butter then it’s olive oil, lanolin, vitamin E, rosemary, bergamot and clary sage. It smells like shea butter and rosemary oil which is a faint but a pleasant scent. Additionally, it’s a solid consistency but melts quickly once rubbed in the hands and applied to the hair.
Final Thoughts
The buttershine hair creme definitely does all that it claims! I believe this was the key element to getting my hair so smooth, shiny and straight. Although I could’ve applied less, I would probably apply just as much as I did before. Since my hair soaks up butters, it all worked out in my favor! Be cautious though, if you have a looser curl use as directed on the package.
I definitely recommend E’TAE products for straightening the hair and keeping it overall healthy. What seriously won me over is the fact that their ingredient list is all natural and easy to understand. That alone is such a huge factor for me! I plan to one day try their carmel shampoo and conditioner but for now I’ll stick my staples. Have you tried E’TAE’s product line? Let me know in the comments below!

Love your review of Etae. Your hair description fits mine. You mentioned sticking with your Shampoo and conditioner and deep conditioner, will you reveal what it is?
And what would be a great 8 week routine for hair care routine like yourd and my hair type, as you described.
By the way, you are high porosity, right?
Anne
Hey Anne! So glad to hear that you love the review!
I currently use Shea Moisture’s Superfruit Complex shampoo and Mielle Organics Rosemary Mint deep conditioner.
As far as a routine, when I blow dry and straighten my hair I do not apply any additional heat or wash/detangle it for another 4 weeks (that’s if I’m wearing it straight consistently). I also oil my ends every other day with coconut oil when wearing my hair in a straight state.
My hair porosity was normal when I did the floating water test. When I wear my hair in a braid out, the style lasts for a week and a half and I don’t need to reapply much product or re-twist in between.
Hope this helps!
