4 Easy Ways to Digitally Spring Clean & Organize Your Life
Typically when we think of spring cleaning, we think of cleaning and organizing physical things around the house. We easily forget our digital lives, which in most cases takes up a majority of our lives on a daily basis. Our phones, social media, email and other digital spaces can be cluttered too. So before you think of tidying up around the house, make some time to tidy up your digital life. Here a few ways you can easily spring clean and get organized!
Delete Duplicate & Useless Photos
I know when taking selfies and/or doing Instagram photo shoots, it can be relatively easy to have the same photo with different poses. However, it’s time to get rid of all those duplicate photos and free up some space. Additionally, the photos that you might screenshot to send to family and friends can go too! If you have no use for it, then get rid of it.
Clean Your Contact List
I know people who have at least 300 contacts in their phone… and if that’s you it’s time to clean your contact list. I’m sure you do not speak with 300 people in a given month, yet alone in a week. Purge those old contacts that you no longer keep in touch with and get rid of those old restaurants that closed or you don’t eat at anymore.
Unsubscribe to Newsletters You Don’t Read
Having newsletters you don’t read and spam emails within your inbox is ridiculously annoying. If you find yourself constantly deleting emails from the same sender before reading it, then it’s time to unsubscribe. I understand that it takes more time to unsubscribe rather than delete the actual email. However, that 1 minute it takes for you to unsubscribe will gain your time back in no longer having to delete those reoccurring messages. Also, if you receive email notifications from social media apps that you frequent often, it’s time to change those settings as well. No need to have Facebook notify you every time you gain a new friend or receive a comment.
Uninstall Old Apps
It’s very to easy to install apps one time and forget that they’re there. Go through your phone and if you haven’t opened a specific app in a month or two, it’s time to uninstall it. I know you scroll past numerous apps on a regular basis and don’t even second think it. However, these apps take up storage on your phone that can be used for another app you’ll actually use.
Spring cleaning our digital life is just as important as our physical everyday life. We have to realize that our digital lives can be distracting too! Once you get rid of the digital clutter, you’ll start to streamline your tasks more easily. Have some more tips on digital spring cleaning? Please let me know in the comments below!
