So head over there (after you finish reading her feature, of course 🙂 ) to check out her videos! Enjoy!!

Tell us about yourself and your journey on becoming a makeup artist!

I am 21 years old, married to an awesome man and I’m originally from Honduras. I moved to the states when I was 14 years old with my mother to better our lives. I fell in love with makeup when I was about 10 years old. I used to see my mom get cute every morning for work, and she inspired me to be like her. My journey as a Makeup Artist started when I was about 16 years old. Around that time I was already allowed to wear it and I decided to practice on myself, my family and friends. Throughout the years, my skills continued to get better and now, here I am!

I see you have a YouTube channel AlexaBeautyHaute! Why did you decide to start a channel?

I decided to make my YouTube channel because a lot of folks would always ask me about makeup tips and my eyebrows routine (when it was really trending) and that made me go for it. At first, I began to question myself if I really wanted to do it or not. I was afraid of people making fun of me but I ignored those thoughts and began my tutorials; so far so good!

What do you hope your viewers takeaway from your videos?

I want my viewers to relate to me and to know that makeup isn’t really that hard to do. It’s all about techniques and practice. I learned everything I know about makeup on my own with consistency and lots of patience. I’m still a work in progress.

Do you have a favorite beauty YouTuber? If so, who are they and why are they your favorite?

Yes I do! My favorite YouTubers are “MonicaStyleMuse” and “TheMarieJay”. They’re both super humble with a stunning personality. They both inspire me because they started from the bottom and now their channel has become very successful. I aspire to be like them.

What’s been the hardest part with YouTube so far?

The hardest part has been staying consistent with uploading on a weekly basis; because I’m constantly busy with work and freelancing. However, I do try to film every time I get a chance.

Which marketing techniques have worked best for you with bringing subscribers to your
channel?

Honestly, bringing subscribers is not so easy. However, for me sharing my videos on all of my social media platforms has helped me a lot. Also, hashtags and tags are very useful and bring more people to your page/channel.

Let’s talk skincare… what are your die hard can’t live without skincare products?

Actually, as crazy as it may sound I currently don’t have particular skin care products that I would die for. However, I do use a sulfur soup that my grandmother always sends me from Honduras and it helped my acne and some scars go away. I used to suffer from severe acne and that particular soap literally has my skin glowing lol.

What do you say to the people who down others for wearing makeup?

This is actually a really good question. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with wearing makeup. Makeup is an art, it’s a way to express yourself and I don’t see anything wrong with that. However, I do notice that those who don’t know how to apply it the proper way, are usually the ones who say negative things. I personally don’t let that get to me or affect me in any kind of way.

Do you have any advice for others who want to become a beauty influencer/YouTuber?

For those who want to become beauty influencers or YouTubers, my advice is to GO FOR IT! Work with what you have at home and be YOURSELF! Do not let anyone with negative comments bring you down. You got this, sis!

Anything else that you would like for us to know?

I just want to say, always remember to love yourself and be kind to others. Someone is always watching you.
