27 Things I’ve Learned By The Age Of 27

things learned by 27

I celebrated my 27th birthday on Monday and it was such a great time to reflect and spend time with family! My twenties have been pretty much about growth all across the board. I’m at such an exciting time in my life where I feel like I have everything together! I’m pursuing my businesses, I have wonderful relationships and most importantly of all, I’m doing the things that make me happy! So I wanted to write 27 things I’ve learned throughout my twenties to my younger self (and anyone else who might need to hear it).

  1. You will learn to say no. . . A LOT. The greatest thing though? You’ll sleep like a baby at night because saying no is OK.
  2. Also, learn to say yes. . . those times when you didn’t feel like doing something will be the best decisions ever.
  3. Staying close to your beliefs and having faith will always be what gets you through life.
  4. Your twenties will consist of constant change. Don’t worry, you will adapt to the abruptness rather quickly and happily.
  5. The “Five Love Languages” will change your personal life for the better. You’ll learn that we all don’t love the same way.
  6. One day you will take a big risk that will bring a big reward and become addicted. It will be the scariest things you’ve ever done but so worth it. . . every time!
  7. Being kind to someone who is being mean to you will work wonders, trust me.
  8. You will take your love for reading/writing seriously and wonder why you didn’t pursue it a long time ago.
  9. There will be lots of obstacles that are going to temporarily discourage you. You will keep pursuing your goals despite the negative things you’ve been told.
  10. Staying positive and affirming your wants/needs will become part of your daily life.
  11. Remember all those years when Mommy told you that you don’t use enough words? Well you’ll learn how to use them and communicate more effectively. (Thank goodness!)
  12. Even better. . . you’ll learn when to be silent and actively listen.
  13. You will understand why exercise, eating healthy and drinking water is a MUST!
  14. Receiving validation from others will become a thing of the past. Knowing who you are will reassure you every time.
  15. Letting go of friendships, clothes and even your old self will be hard. Let it go because you will evolve into someone even greater.
  16. Comparison is the thief of the joy and social media is the devil. Don’t let either consume you.
  17. You will careless if someone likes you or not. We can’t please them all.
  18. Stressing about things will come to a slow end. You’ll learn that you can’t control everything and to let it go.
  19. True love will find you when you least expect it.
  20. Unfortunately, you’ll learn the hard way about how important it is to back up all your files.
  21. Did I mention that you’ll travel quite often? Get ready to become even more educated while you see the world with your own eyes!
  22. Saying what you mean and meaning what you say will be much easier than you ever imagined.
  23. You, and you alone, are responsible for your own happiness.
  24. Be patient, your time will come.
  25. There will never be a time when you feel 100% ready on your entrepreneurship journey. Get use to it.
  26. If you thought you were done making new friends, you were wrong! You will meet some amazing women who will turn into lifelong friends!
  27. The best has yet to come.
